Who We Are
SCTV unites the broadcast organizations on campus with the goal of benefitting, improving, and maintaining operations and membership. SCTV Council acts as the leadership body that supports & protects the student's voice and maintains organizational leaders accountable for the responsibility it takes to hold broadcast organizations together. We produce programming that supports member development in technical and leadership skills.
What We Do
SCTV is the first line of defense in protecting the student voice through our committees and SCTV Council. SCTV Council is a space where broadcast organizational reps and members have a seat at the table to grow SCTV’s community for the benefit of maintaining these organizations for future generations.
The Program Review Committee is a student-led group that researches and reviews copyright law to protect students and organizations from lawsuits. We set up processes for students to participate in governing resources & keeping them accessible for all student members through democratic decision-making, where every student's voice is heard to come together and find a solution.
Where We Came From
SCTV was created in 2003 to serve as a training ground for students interested in film and media, as well as to create content to serve the student community at UCSC. Over the years, the purpose of SCTV has changed, and with it, the resources needed to operate. To accommodate these changes, students voted on various measures to increase the budget, upgrade the facilities, and better manage the resources of SCTV.
